Recently, around 100 international students from Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang Gongshang University, and Hangzhou Dianzi University immersed themselves in the future of green energy as part of the Hangzhou League of International Students program at the Chint New Energy Smart Photovoltaic Industrial Park.
The event, themed “Sharing the Value of Light with the World -- Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Going Global Series: A Closer Look at Chint Group”, brought these young global minds face-to-face with China’s latest advancements in photovoltaic technology. On a guided tour through Chint’s intelligent production lines, the students witnessed the transformation of a silicon wafer into a cutting-edge solar panel, symbolizing China’ s progress in smart manufacturing.
Organized by the Hangzhou International Communication Center, the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce Charity Committee, and Chint Group, the initiative aims to deepen mutual understanding between Chinese enterprises and international talent, facilitate partnerships, and promote the global significance of Chinese businesses.
Founded in 1984, Chint Group has built a fully integrated electric power ecosystem -- from generation to usage. Its three core sectors -- green energy, intelligent electrics, and smart low-carbon solutions -- currently serve over 140 countries and regions. With R&D centers in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North Africa, Chint employs more than 50,000 people worldwide.
Huang Haiyan, Executive Vice President, and Chief Sustainability Officer of Chint New Energy, introduced the company’s global talent development strategy. Specializing in photovoltaic module R&D and manufacturing, Chint New Energy has established production facilities in Thailand and Turkey, with sales centers across Europe, the Americas, Australia, and Asia-Pacific. It ranks among the world’s top solar module exporters.
To meet the growing challenges of global expansion, Chint New Energy has developed a comprehensive talent capability model, assessing candidates across seven dimensions: language proficiency, intercultural communication, adaptability, global perspective, technical expertise, teamwork, and leadership.
Chint also invests in cross-cultural training to help foreign employees understand Chinese corporate culture and operations, while equipping Chinese staff with global management skills. In 2024 alone, nearly 10 million RMB has been dedicated to employee development, with plans to upskill 1,000 employees by 2035.
For Hassan Ammar Ali Abdullah, a business administration major from Yemen studying at Zhejiang Gongshang University, the visit was inspiring. “I’ve visited several Zhejiang-based companies, but Chint New Energy’s commitment to sustainability and advanced manufacturing left a strong impression,” he said. “If the opportunity arises, I’d love to work in a company like this!”
“Chinese companies can offer a wider range of opportunities to international talents,” said Wissal, a student from Morocco studying at Hangzhou Dianzi University. “Beyond translation roles, international talents can excel in sales, product development, and more.” She believes that her experience in China has made her a cultural bridge. “Studying here gave me a chance to mediate between cultural differences and help Chinese businesses better understand our markets and traditions.”
The visit was more than a tour -- it was a dialogue between future global citizens and China’s leading innovators, sharing a common goal: to light the world together.
