Recently, I returned to Hangzhou from abroad after spending my vacation back home. I need to go through the accommodation registration process. Under Chinese regulations, foreigners entering the country must register their address with the local police station within 24 hours.
This applies regardless of whether you were visiting home, traveling for work, or going on vacation.
If you are staying at a hotel, the registration is done for you when you check in with your passport or other valid ID. If you are an international student living on campus, then this process is likely managed by your university.
I used to handle this by going to the police station in person, but this time, I found a much easier way--I submitted my registration through AI Hangzhou, which made the whole process a lot more convenient! Here is how to manage such online registration:
1.Open Alipay.
2.Search “AI Hangzhou” and enter "City Services" or just scan the QR code with Alipay App to find it. If you are using the international version of Alipay, you can find it on the front page in the "Living in China" section.
3.Tap the “Residence Service” icon.
4.Choose “Registration of Temporary Residence.”
5.Fill in all the necessary information, upload your passport photos and a photo of yourself.
