CIEDC reveals new development of express delivery

The 5th China (Hangzhou) International Express Delivery Conference (CIEDC) was held in Tonglu county on Nov 21-22, bringing together representatives from the domestic and international express delivery industry.

Walter Trezek, Chairman of the Consultative Committee of Universal Postal Union (UPU), introduced the changes that UPU will open to a wider range of postal industry participants in his keynote speech, as well as a series of reform and opening-up measures that UPU will launch soon.

The conference also released the Global Express Development Report (2023), technological research and development achievements of Three Intelligence and One Code, and the Chinese National Postal and Express Delivery Industry Distribution Report on Agricultural and Special Product Packages. Twelve major express logistic projects were signed. Among others, the Global Express Development Report (2023) analyzed the global express market from the perspectives of business scale, market patterns, basic networks, and value contributions, sorting out the development of express package delivery in the six major regional markets, namely, Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. According to the report, in 2022, the global express package volume was approximately 189.2 billion pieces, with a year-on-year growth of about 9.84%, and a business income of approximately 4.1 trillion RMB, with a year-on-year growth of about 12.19%.

In addition, on Nov 21, three parallel sessions with different themes were held simultaneously, focusing respectively on Serving Global Interconnection and Facilitating the New Journey of the Belt and Road Initiatives, High-Quality Development with Leading Standards, and Digitization Promoting Deep Integration of Express Delivery and E-commerce. During the conference, the attendees also visited the Express Technology Town, Tonglu Urban Express Collection and Distribution Center, and Tonglu Famous and Special Exhibition Center to explore the development of express delivery in the county.
