"Life without playback
We can only look ahead
Life without regret
Devote every effort
…"
This is the graduation song Fly composed and created as a gift to three graduates by 13 undergraduates from Malaysia who are studying at the Communication University of Zhejiang.
The 13 students are currently stuck in Malaysia due to the pandemic. They work together online to compose and create the song upon receiving the task in mid April from Jin Jing, Director of International Student Affairs office of the university's School of International Communications & Education.
Studying in the university, the 13 of them major differently in Radio and TV Production, Music Performance, Television Broadcasting Science, and Animation. They worked in 4 groups to produce the musical work, namely, dubbing and music, dancing, vocal effects, and martial art. Within less than a month, they finished composing, lyrics writing, as well as animation making to complete the song. They often stayed up late in that month, having meetings online, the longest of which lasted about 7 hours, from 9pm till 4am.
Zhuo Xiying, who majors in music performance, said, "Everyone had different ideas, and sometimes we disagreed with each other, but we completed the mission impossible within less than a month. We were so passionate for it and so determined to create the song. We hoped that it would bring the graduates some good memories of the university life."
Peng Xinrou, an Animation major, stated that all the devotion was worthwhile when she saw the three graduates'were all smiles at the online graduation ceremony.
The 3 graduates are Nahed Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamed from Sudan, Sharapov Amirjon from Tajikistan, and Morello Camila Bianca from Argentina. And Camila stated for her graduation, "Live with no regrets. After all we are who we are, thanks to the choices we've made."
"The graduation song echoes in my mind," Jin Jing commented. "Every note represents the leap of our dream. This is the most precious graduation gift ever."
