India is gearing up for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. In an interview with the Hangzhou 2022, Rajeev Mehta, India NOC Secretary General, gave us he first source: the Entry by number is approximately 495 male athletes and 443 female athletes, total 938 athletes will participate in 42 Sports.
India, a populous country like China, was one of the first main sponsors of the Asian Games. In 1951, New Delhi hosted the first Asian Games; The Asian Games were back in New Delhi for the first time after 31 years. In fact, although India is not a sports power in the traditional sense, sports such as cricket, hockey and wrestling are very popular. 印度，这个与中国同为人口大国的国家，曾是亚运会的主要发起国之一。1951年，新德里便举办了第一届亚运会；时隔31年，亚运会再度回到新德里。1982年亚运会不仅是亚奥理事会成立后的第一届亚运会，更让中国体育代表团夺得 61枚金牌，首度超越雄霸亚运多年的日本，跃上亚洲第一，受到海内外媒体瞩目，斩获“亚洲体育第一强国”的称号。
望杭州亚运会取得圆满成功
实际上，印度虽然并非传统意义上的体育强国，但板球、曲棍球、摔跤等体育运动非常流行。在1980年之前，印度在曲棍球项目上总共获得过8枚金牌。如今，随着电竞项目的入亚，他们也期待在更多项目上有新的突破。
